E1 (European Long-Distance Hiking Trail)
The E1 European long-distance hiking trail is part of the European network of footpaths that runs from the North Cape to Salerno in southern Italy. The total length of the E1 is around 7,000 km. The trail through Germany is nearly 1,900 km and also passes the Lüneburg Heath and Undeloh.
The E1 long-distance hiking trail in the Lüneburg Heath runs from Buchholz in der Nordheide to Celle in der Südheide and also crosses many parts of the Heidschnuckenweg (Heathland Sheep Trail) and the Freudenthalweg trail. You are welcome to stay overnight with our hosts in Undeloh, Wesel, Meningen, Thonhof, Heimbuch and Wehlen, as well as Nindorf, Ollsen, Sahrendorf and Schätzendorf along the hiking route.
